Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American TV reporter, journalist and anchor for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career with KYW Radio and TV as a Philadelphia reporter in the year 1967. She joined the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. She was promoted to Washington general reporter with NBC News two years later. The year 1981 saw her begin working for the White House and became chief congressional correspondent in 1988. She was appointed Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994, she was named chief foreign affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell has been a panelist as well as host of the TV program Meet the Press. She was a member of a panel for the 1988 debates between George Bush (then president) and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married Alan Greenspan a former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received in 2005 her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism for The John F. Kennedy School of Government. Also in 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) recognized Mitchell for her work in the defense of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell's very first White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. This period included both Ronald Reagan terms in office. Her coverage included a variety of significant stories, including the Iran-contra scandal, the tax and budget reforms and also the arms control. Mitchell traveled extensively along with President Reagan to meet together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
